1er festival francophone dédié au cinéma palestinien
Lancé en 2012 par le Collectif Urgence Palestine Genève pour marquer les dix ans des Missions civiles en Palestine, Palestine, Filmer C’est Exister – PFC’E est le premier événement francophone entièrement dédié au cinéma palestinien. Grâce à un comité d’organisation largement bénévole, il vole de ses propres ailes depuis 2014 comme association sans but lucratif.
Chaque année autour du 29 novembre, Journée internationale de solidarité avec le peuple palestinien, PFC’E présente une sélection de fictions et documentaires réalisés par des cinéastes palestinien.ne.s en lien avec un fil rouge pour faire connaître au public romand la réalité quotidienne du peuple palestinien et discuter des enjeux sociaux, économiques, politiques et culturels par rapport notamment à la résistance, à l’occupation, à la colonisation et à l’exil, au travers du regard des cinéastes palestinien.ne.s, où qu’ils vivent.
A la différences de nombreux festivals, PFC’E ne suit pas la sortie des films mais s’appuie sur un ou plusieurs fils rouges qui servent de trame à sa programmation en privilégiant la qualité artistique et cinématographique. Ainsi, PFC’E a exploré des thèmes comme l’exil (2014), les « Palestinien.ne.s de 48 » (2016), les regards de réalisatrices palestiniennes (2019) ou l’enfermement (2021) ou de jeunes cinéastes palestinien.ne.s qui n’hésitent pas à questionner leur société (2023).
Les rencontres entre public et cinéastes sont un moment fort de chaque édition, pour questionner et débattre de la manière dont les cinéastes palestinien.ne.s conçoivent le lien existant entre la création artistique et le milieu qui la féconde, entre la réalité du monde et celle de la Palestine et la restitution qu’ils.elles nous en donnent dans leurs oeuvres.
PFC’E est membre de Apartheid Free Zone Suisse et adhère à l’appel lancé par la société palestinienne BDS en 2005.

The Association
The first French-speaking festival devoted to Palestinian cinema
Founded in 2012 by the Geneva-based Collectif Urgence Palestine to mark the tenth anniversary of the Civilian Missions in Palestine, Palestine, Filmer C’est Exister – PFC’E is the first French-language event wholly dedicated to Palestinian cinema. Thanks to a largely volunteer organising committee, it has stood on its own since 2014 as a non-profit association.
Each year around 29 November – the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People – PFC’E screens a selection of fiction and documentary films by Palestinian filmmakers, chosen around a guiding theme (the festival’s fil rouge). The aim is to acquaint audiences in French-speaking Switzerland with the daily reality of the Palestinian people and to discuss the social, economic, political and cultural issues linked to resistance, occupation, colonisation and exile, as seen through Palestinian eyes wherever they may live.
Unlike many festivals, PFC’E is not tied to release dates; it builds its programme around one or more central threads, always prioritising artistic and cinematic quality. Past editions have explored exile (2014); the “Palestinians of ’48” (2016); the perspectives of Palestinian women directors (2019); confinement (2021); and, most recently, a young generation of Palestinian film-makers unafraid to question their own society (2023).
Audience encounters with film-makers are a highlight of every edition, providing space to debate how Palestinian creators perceive the relationship between artistic expression and the context that shapes it – between the wider world and Palestine itself – and how they convey that reality in their work.
